"Coffee & Lyrics" is an increasingly popular Sunday morning event that showcases W-A's top singer-songwriters and poets in the intimate, laidback surrounds of the Hybrid Warehouse, 5b Quarry Street, Fremantle.It's hosted by the local folk duo, Sea Swallow - who are also the co-authors of the book about Fremantle's musical culture, "Freo Groove".
Their sixth "Coffee & Lyrics" event on April 6th features one of Australia's finest female singer-song-writers, Helen Shanahan. Helen has the voice of an angel and is a superb song-writer and musician. She is also the host of the hugely successful "Songwriters Cafe" in Fremantle. She's a true gem of WA's burgeoning music scene. Helen will be joined by Steve Hensby on guitar.
The event also features the spoken word, with a short Guest Poet spot. April's guest poet is the award-winning Bron Bateman. Bron's poetry has been published in collections and journals across Australia, the UK and the U-S.
It's going to be a great show, with two masters of their craft.
