A unique and experimental 2 day workshop using coffee and crayon in the etching process to develop an exciting edition of prints. With these etching ‘lift’ processes we can make direct positive drawn crayon and brush marks on metal plates. We will draw directly onto degreased plates with a solution of coffee and greasy crayons. We will then paint a thin layer of stop out over the top of the marks and use hot water and solvent to carefully reveal the drawing from underneath the ground.
These drawings can be further worked into with aquatint and stop out, before being etched and printed.
Over this two day course you will work on two small etching plates and print a small edition of your plates.
This expressive etching process can be seen in full effect in the work of Barbara Rae and John Bellamy.
This is a 2 Day workshop, taking place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September at Highland Print Studio, 10am- 4pm each day.
