About this Event
This is a software-based class where patrons will learn the basics of coding concepts with block style coding while building a game. Basic computer skills are required.
In this program patrons will learn what coding is, how coding is used, and follow a step-by-step tutorial to creat a simple computer game.
Patrons will use their own email address to create a free account at Scratch.mit.edu. This is a free, in-browser use software created by MIT to teach basic coding concepts. We will walk through a step-by-step tutorial together to create a fun launcher game. By creating their own account, patrons can continue to work on Scratch anywhere with access to a computer and internet.
Patrons MUST have a Garland Public Library card in good standing to attend this program. If you do not currently have a library card, you can sign up for one at no cost either before the program or immediately after.
Our library programs are free and in high demand. If you register and can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation at least 24 hours in advance so we can accommodate others. Repeated no-shows may affect your ability to register for future events. Thank you for your cooperation!
