The Zombie was the drink that made Tiki a fixture of the American bar scene. For years its recipe was a tightly guarded secret, known only to inventor Donn Beach - not even his bartenders knew what all the secret ingredients they added were. This led to a proliferation of pale imitations, but eventually, through research and dumb luck, cocktail book author Jeffy Berry cracked the code. Not only did he have an authentic recipe, he had three! Each was tasty, but each was distinct - an example of how the drink changed over the many years it was served.
In this class, Evan Christie will mix up these three authentic Zombie recipes as well as other variations to explore how this iconic drink can tantalize your taste buds in any form. Whichever tweaks, adjustments, and modifications are made to each recipe, the core of this drink remains the same - deceptively strong, deliciously rummy.
