About this Event
In their 17th season, the Cobb Summer Singers will perform the ‘Holocaust Cantata, Songs from the Camps’, a compelling 40-minute piece by Don McCullough which leads the participants on an emotional, musical journey through one the bleakest episodes in human history, culminating in a celebration of the life-affirming power of music. The 13-movement work is based on music sung by prisoners in Holocaust concentration camps alternating with powerful readings and instrumental movements, arranged for mixed chorus, piano, cello, soloists and narrators.
Our guest conductor will be Amy Thropp, music director of Zimria Festivale Atlanta and retired music director for Congregation Beth Shalom in Dunwoody. She has been a long-time member of New South Festival Singers and Cobb Summer Singers.
In addition to the HOLOCAUST CANTATA, the Cobb Summer Singers will perform Ms. Thropp’s KADDISH IN MEMORY OF THE SIX MILLION and Kim Andre Arnesen’s EVEN WHEN HE IS SILENT.
