COB OVEN PROJECT @ MAY PROJECT GARDENS - REGISTER TO JOIN US!
We have started to build an outdoor oven called 'cob oven' at our hub! It's a traditional, wood-fired, clay pizza oven.
We are aiming to feed the community and work towards making our site more functional as a business rather than seeking funding as a community interest company. It will be able to cook large, delicious pizzas, artisan bread, etc.
We have completed the the intial steps in creating a foundation, which is important for building a stable, long-lasting structure, and building a plinth - which has two main functions which raises the oven to a height that makes it practical to use. Secondly the top of the plinth forms the all important brick base to your oven.
CAN YOU HELP? JOIN THE PROJECT:
We are seeking a large team of volunteers to help with the final stages of the project and to complete the construction of the cob oven.
This family-friendly workshop series offers a role for everyone. An oven-building workshop is an excellent way to unite a community towards a shared objective! This will be a historical, informative and practical workshop. Projects don't get much better than this. Children (aged 7+ years) and families building their own wood fired cob pizza oven is a connecting, empowering, extraordinary and unforgettable shared experience.
If you can't make the whole day no worries - any amount of time is super helpful!
MEET THE FACILITATORS This is facilitated by natural build professionals @zapauka and @jue_sota , who were part of the fantastic facilitator team that built our onsite straw bale classroom !
This in-person event will take place over the weekend:
SATURDAY 13TH + 14TH APRIL'24 12:00 PM GMT . Located at 158 Middleton Rd, Morden, SM4 6RW , our community garden and hub is nestled in the bottom left of a residential cul-de-sac, with a lovely park just across the road. For directions click here.
