Join at the Coastal Cultures Conference 2025 as we focus on "Cultivating Cultural Heritage & .Celebrating Sustainability!"The 2025 Coastal Cultures Conference will center on historic St. Helena Island, SC and journey to historic Edisto Island. This annual conference hosted by the Gullah/Geechee Sustainability Think Tank brings together a wide variety of diverse environmental leaders focused on ensuring not only the sustainability of the coast and our waterways but also the cultural heritage of communities such as that of the Gullah/Geechee Nation . This year, the event will include pre-conference environmental sustainability projects on St. Helena Island , a coastal adaptation and sustainability tour on the South Carolina coast, Gullah/Geechee Living Marketplace, Indigo Ball and the annual Coastal Culture Circle of Engagement.
The Gullah/Geechee Nation is engaged in a number of successful initiatives to heal, protect and sustain the southeastern coast. Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah/Geechee Nation and representatives of the collaborative organizations that are participating in these projects will present throughout the conference activities on Friday and Saturday.
