ABOUT
The Coalition Theater is casting our house sketch comedy teams. These teams will perform 4 Shows each in 2025. Our goal is to cast 2 teams of writers and performers who will alternate performing 1 hour shows on the last saturday of the month.
Sketch Teams will be expected to meet most weeks for writing and workshopping their shows. Teams will consist of any mix of writers and performers however there will be no assigned roles unless individual performers volunteer to exclude themselves from any activities; for example if you like to write but don’t like to get on stage that is totally fine.
Please sign up below, if you’re interested! If you are a writer please bring printed copies of a writing sample, enough for each character in the sketch plus 1 for the audition panel. We will be doing staged readings of your work with a mix of auditioners. Please bring writing samples that have no more than 4 characters and be prepared to quickly direct your piece and put it on stage.
THE COACHES
Preston Bradsher
Preston started at Coalition after moving here last April, and has since been performing improv with Women in Stem and sketch with Riverboat Stranger. She loves to write sketch and bother other people about writing sketch. As a coach, she wants to create a team that makes silly, theatrical, and non-stop sketch shows that feel like weird little plays. Can’t wait for auditions! Let’s make really good stupid stuff together!
Jonas Benz
Jonas has been writing and performing sketch comedy for 5 years and has been part of the illustrious Coalition House teams Egg Group and Riverboat Stranger. His friends will tell you he is a sweetie pie, or a cartoon character, or that he barks like a dog too often. In his free time you can find him playing cards, watching Survivor, or slipping Hamilton lyrics into everyday conversation.
WHAT WE REQUIRE
• Previous improv or sketch training. With a demonstrated grasp of performance skills.
• Ability to practice weekly in the lead-up to your debut, and on a consistent basis during your run. (weekly, bi-weekly, etc as needed to ensure consistent show quality.)
• All team members must be 18 years or older.
HOW TO PREPARE
Please print enough copies of your writing sample and bring any props if your sketch is prop dependent.
