For Skateboarding Coaches/Instructors either established, starting out, or those considering starting up.
PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY SK8 M8'S TOWNSVILLE
Sunday 1/8 3-4pm followed by a group skate lesson so that we can put some of the techniques into practice with some keen skaters.
Coaching the Coaches:
These sessions are targeted specifically at Skateboarding Coaches/Instructors either established, starting out, or those who wish to start up in the future. They will also be a great benefit to Skate Parents who wish to better understand how to support and encourage their skaters. As well as Skate Mentors for the social skate, to get insight into how to analyse technique and provide suggestions to help skaters with the problem solving process of nailing a trick or learning techniques.
The session will be tailored to the specific needs of the attendees but may include:
Teaching techniques - understanding body mechanics and dynamic to ensure consistent step by step techniques
Class management and structuring lessons
Setting up online booking
Legal cover and risk assessment
Skate Park etiquette for lessons and modelling for students
The Psychology of learning - scaffolding technique and eliminating fear
This is a group session (but Individual one on one intensive sessions can also be booked with fish). It may have the potential to run a mock competition where coaches can give feedback on runs and participants can see the variety of feedback from different judges and different formats and criteria and how it affects scoring.
Groups are currently limited to 10 participants
This is a Covid safe event - please see procedures and precautions below

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED, PADS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
If you do not have helmet or skateboard they can be borrowed per session, directly from the instructor
Covid Safe Update , we are omitting the possibility of borrowing pads to keep you guys covid safe.
We will still offer helmets and sanitising products as it is a legal minimum that helmets must be worn.
Pads are not a legal minimum requirement but(not required but highly recommended)
We Also ask that you help us to observe social distancing regulations by minimising the amount of people watching where possible and maintain distancing between family groups.
In Addition to checking in your skaters , we ask that each family sign in on our COVID safe register.
Our lessons at this stage remain non contact where the safety of the skater is not a concern, should you have a beginner skater who requires hands on assistance, we ask that a parent or member of the family group/ household be ready to assist under direction from the coach.
We ask that you listen carefully to any directives given by the coach and if you are at all sick please stay home.
