Floor Naming Ceremony at Palmer High School – Erps GymWe are pleased to share the details for the Floor Naming Ceremony honoring Coach McKiernan at Palmer High School’s Erps Gym.
The ceremony will take place on January 20th, beginning between the JV and Varsity games, with an approximate start time of 7:00 PM. The evening will include a few brief remarks, followed by the unveiling of a commemorative banner that will hang in the gym until the floor is officially painted with its new name. Coach McKiernan will then share a few words.
At halftime, former coaches, players, officials, and all those who were part of Coach McKiernan’s decades-long career at Palmer are invited to join us on the court for a group photo. Following the photo opportunity, our dad will be in the lobby during halftime to greet former players and well-wishers.
For those who are unable to attend—or even for those who plan to be there—the school is offering the opportunity to submit a :20-second video to share memories, congratulatory words, or stories. These videos will be played throughout the evening on the gym’s video scoreboard. Videos may be submitted to me for forwarding to the school, or you may visit Palmer High School and ask for Matt Wilson, Athletic Director, who has kindly offered to record videos on campus.
Admission is $6.00, with tickets available at the door. Please note that Palmer High School uses a cashless entry system, so debit or credit cards will be required.
