About this Event
Coach Dave Love has been the Shooting Coach for NBA teams including the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and Dallas Mavericks, and created these clinics in 2001 to share the same teaching points with young basketball players. Players will be taught the What's, Why's and How's of shooting fundamentals, and will hear stories of the work NBA players have done to improve.
This clinic will be run personally by NBA Shooting Coach Dave Love. The drills that players do will be the same drills that NBA players do on a daily basis, and the teaching points will be the same teaching points NBA players get.
The clinic will start with simple ideas and simple drills, and build throughout the day. Players will learn how to ISOLATE bad habits and LAYER drills to improve their habits. There will be no direct competition between players.
But please understand this clinic is not designed solely to be FUN. We believe it IS fun, but that is not the purpose. This clinic is designed to TEACH. Players will be held accountable to building better habits. Please understand that this isn't for all players. If your player only wants to PLAY - this isn't the place for them. If they think they know everything already - this isn't the place for them. If they believe they are as good as they can get already - this isn't the place for them.
IF THEY WANT TO GET BETTER (regardless of their skill level or experience), AND THEY WANT HELP - THIS IS THE PLACE FOR THEM!
FAQs
Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes. Players must be 11 years old on the day of the clinic to attend. Exceptions can not be made due to insurance purposes. Coach Love does not set an upper age limit on the clinics. We have had parents sign up to participate in the clinic, and this is welcomed (if you just want to watch, you don't need to pay). Be aware that the average age for clinic will vary depending on the location. We have no way of knowing this in advance, or manipulating this.
The clinic is designed to benefit players of all ages and skill levels. Just because we slow down doesn't mean that it is easy. Older players in particular need to understand this. Just because there will be 11 year olds at the clinic, doesn't mean it is beneath a 16 year old. NBA players do the same work.
What's the refund policy?
A full refund will be given up to 7 day in advance of the clinic start time. After that point no refunds will be given as coaches will need to make travel plans. Please feel free to pass the registration on to someone else that might be able to use it. Unfortunately, this also includes players that might have been injured leading up to the clinic. In this case, we recommend that the player still come and participate in the huddles of the clinic and try to learn as much as they can.
Are parents and coaches welcome at the clinic?
Yes. It takes a village to raise a shooter, so we encourage parents and coaches to come and listen in. If you have questions, come right out onto the floor and the lead coach when he or she has a moment. Also, look out for bonus material that we email to the parents a couple of days before most of our clinics.
What should I bring to the event?
Please bring your own basketball and suitable basketball attire. A water bottle and snacks are a good idea, as well as a lunch if you are attending a full day camp.
