How can dialogue across traditions deepen understanding of humanity's shared quest for truth? In this conversation between two scholar-practitioners, Fr. Yann Vagneux and Prof. Anantanand Rambachan, explore the intersections between Hindu and Christian traditions.
Fr. Yann Vagneux, Th.D., member of the Foreign Missions Society, completed studies in Paris, Rome, and New York, culminating in his doctoral dissertation Co-esse: The Trinitarian Mystery in the Thought of Jules Monchanin - Swami Swâmi Paramârûbyânanda (DDB, 2015). Since first encountering India in 1997 and settling in Varanasi in 2010, Vagneux has deepened his engagement with Hinduism through friendships with Hindu Pandits, continued Sanskrit studies, and interreligious dialogues. His publications include "A Priest in Banaras" (ATC, 2020) and "Indian Portraits. Eight Indian Encounters with Hinduism" (Nirala, 2021), and his forthcoming An Emulation of Sanctity. Vagneux divides his time living between Varanasi and Kathmandu at the heart of the main religions of Asia.
