About this Event
EPIC Futures NI is a £4.8million Local Policy Partnership (LPIP) hub which seeks to provide an evidence base to aid economic inactivity in NI.
During phase 1 of the EPIC Futures NI project, it was identified by over 100 stakeholders that a Labour Market Observatory would be a useful tool for Northern Ireland. The purpose of this event is to bring together stakeholders to allow them to contribute to the co-design of a Labour Market Observatory for Northern Ireland.
What is a Labour Market Observatory
Labor Market Observatories (LMOs) are platforms or institutions that help guide job seekers and students, intermediaries, policymakers, training institutions, as well as investors and employers with labour market trends and guidance to build better careers (World Bank, 2018).
Why you should attend?
The success of a NI Labour Market Observatory will require the knowledge and buy-in from a range of actors. This will be a resource for all to avail of and therefore we want to ensure as many people as possible feed into what it should include.
We are inviting a range of stakeholders from across business, community and voluntary sector policy and local and central government to give their views on a number of areas which will help shape the design of the LMO. Areas covered will include:
- Key data and information you would like included in a LMO
- Key functionality the LMO should have
- Challenges in developing a LMO for NI
- Suggestions on how challenges can be overcome
- Identification of key partners who can increase the success of the LMO
A discussion guide will be sent one week in advance to direct the interactive session. Participants will be encouraged to sit at a table aligned with their background/interests. Professor Jonathan Wallace and Brian Cleland will facilitate an in person, e-participation tool, which will allow for real-time feedback on views across a range of questions. Lunch will be provided prior to the event.
