SPOKEN WORD, LIVE MUSIC AND PERFORMANCE ARTA new expanded version of our sold-out summer show for the York Festival of Ideas and the Civic Trust's Trailblazers project, for whom we constructed one of the sculptures commemorating York heroes (ours can be seen outside the Council's West Offices).
All works in this lively and creative show are written or inspired and influenced by W.H. Auden, the "Picasso of modern poetry" born in Bootham, York, in 1907.
A leader of the British avant-garde at a time of cultural upheaval in Europe, Auden experimented ceaselessly with poetic form and subject matter. Openly gay and defiantly anti-establishment, he was controversial and influential in his views on politics, morals, love, and religion.
Our inspiring line-up includes award-winning and published Yorkshire writers and performers. This is a mixed media performance event - not a lecture and certainly not just a reading.
Expect the unexpected!
An informal discussion will precede the main event from 6.00 pm. All ticket holders are welcome to attend.
The performances will begin at 7.00 pm, after a short break.
Featuring: Anthony Vahni Capildeo, Antony Dunn, Carrieanne Vivianette, Elizabeth Chadwick Pywell, Ian Parks, Jane Stockdale, Janet Dean, JT Welsch, Richard Kitchen, Alan Gillott, Hugh Bernays + more
