We invite you to join us for a potluck lunch and membership gathering. Be sure to check above for details and what you can contribute to the potluck. Our focus for this meeting is on our heritage through seeds, family, and storytelling.
Seeds: Our Board has been growing Cherokee heirloom seeds to share with our community. Last year was a great harvest and we have many seeds to share! The seeds belong to us as citizens. They are essential to our culture, foodways, and history. If you’re a gardener (and especially if you have not been able to get seeds from our Seed Bank), come visit with us, learn about the plants and traditional foods, connect with other gardening enthusiasts, and leave with seeds. Our Board will continue growing to share our heirloom seeds with Cherokees in our community. And mark your calendars for 2/18 also - that’s when the Seed Bank opens this year. Applications will be found on your Gadugi Portal.
Family: As storytelling and community are foundational to us as Cherokees, we plan to begin a project sharing stories about how our Cherokee families came to California mapping them out together. Come make your mark on our new map and share your story. We hope to see you there!
