Clube de Esquiar consists of two brothers, Juraj Havlík (guitar, vocals) and Jakub Havlík (drums, vocals), from Banská Bystrica, along with two Berlin-based collaborators, David Maroto (bass)and Martina Brandorff (flute). As the previous sentence might have already suggested, the band oscillates between Berlin and Banská Bystrica. We find it extremely difficult to classify the genre
or style of music we play, but since this question comes up quite frequently, we’ve agreed on the term “Post-Brazil.” This label reflects both the temporal-spatial condition of the band as well as its genre or style. The first aspect refers to the founding brothers, Juraj and Jakub, who spent time in Brazil gathering musical inspiration - elements they incorporated into their sound upon returning home. The latter refers to the long, meditative guitar soundscapes often associated with Post-Rock, blended with elements of MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), psychedelia, jazz, and avant-garde.
