Want to hear world-class musicians at work in a relaxed club atmosphere? Then you won’t want to miss the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s Club Night, where you’ll witness a unique combination of jazz, pop, alternative and accessible chamber music, all of the very highest calibre.
During such a Club Night, two sets of chamber music will be played at the highest level at a special location in Amsterdam. And you are on top of it with your eyes and ears! Listen to it sitting or standing, with or without a drink, everything is possible. The Last Dance – the last Club Night of the season – features members of the orchestra performing music by Björk, Radiohead and Charles Mingus, for instance, as well as an irresistibly swinging piece by Patrick Zimmerli. The American-Dutch composer David Dramm has never cared much about genres; Dramm himself will be rapping as part of his Master Bop Blaster. The renowned American pianist Yefim Bronfman, who is serving as the Concertgebouw Orchestra’s artist in residence this season, will be performing before the interval. After solo works by Beethoven, Chopin and Bartók, members of the orchestra will be joining him for a fiery piece by Schumann.
It’s a programme without borders, and you’ll experience it all up close! Feel free to sit or stand during the music, and enjoy a drink or not – anything goes.
