Social documentary photography has had a valuable role to play in recording history, particularly during the past hundred years. Nowhere has this been more striking than in the North of England. Following in this tradition, John Gill has played his part by producing some stunning images of how communities have adapted to their radically different life styles compared to fifty years ago. Many of John’s photographs can be seen in his book ‘After the Coal Dust’. www.johngill.photography
