Club K9 Lake Mead is pleased to announce a new 6 week Rally Obedience class. #akc #obedience #lasvegasdogs #dogtraininglasvegas #rally #cgc Rally is all about teamwork. You and your dog navigate a course together, side-by-side, at your own brisk pace. You move them through a course with signs where they perform different exercises. The courses are designed by a Rally judge (10-20 signs per course, depending on the class level) that include various turns and commands such as sit, down, stay, etc. Unlimited communication from the handler to the dog is to be encouraged and not penalized. While touching isn’t allowed, you can use verbal commands, clap your hands, pat your legs and use hand signals to praise and encourage your dog.
For those who choose to compete scoring in Rally is less rigorous than in other competitions like traditional obedience or agility. You begin with a perfect score of 100, with points deducted along with way. If you retain a score of at least 70 points, you will qualify toward earning a title. Club K9 Rally participants will have the opportunity to compete virtually and earn awards and ribbons. We will also be preparing to show in person in Pahrump, NV October 28-30 and Logandale, NV November 18-20 for those who wish to complete.
Class will be held at Club K9 Lake Mead on Tuesdays at 7:30pm for six weeks beginning on September 6th. Space is limited to 15 dogs. The cost is $300 per dog.

You will have the option to compete your dog virtually, if you so choose with video submissions through YouTube (don’t worry. We will help walk you through the process). The Rally Novice, Rally Intermediate, Rally Advanced and Rally Excellent classes will be available to participate in virtually permanently. Novice and Intermediate are on leash. Advanced and Excellent are off leash with bar jumps. We will set up a pre-designed AKC Rally course, video record the team’s performance, and you may submit it to AKC. In turn, AKC will assign a pre-selected AKC Rally Judge to virtually review and score the team’s Rally performance. In person and virtual trials are interchangeable at the Novice through Excellent level. The AKC Rally Virtual program is open to all dogs six months of age and older, with a few restrictions. Club K9 will award ribbons for all dogs who submit virtually with a qualifying score of 70 or better.
To join class dogs must know basic on leash obedience and not be dog aggressive. Club K9 Graduates get priority for enrollment. The class is limited to 15 dogs, preference given to dogs previously enrolled and Club K9 graduates.
