Brighton Clown School and Split Hairs Theare Company is delighted to be joined for a special clowning workshop by the celebrated actor, director and teacher, Mick Barnfather.

Clown and physical theatre teacher

As a teacher, Mick has worked all around the world. He has taught at the Commedia School in Copenhagen, RADA, Rose Bruford, the Central School of Speech and Drama and the world-famous Philippe Gaulier School. He is also a regular teacher at the National Centre for Circus Arts in London, BADA, the London School of Musical Theatre and the Florida State University London programme.

Performer and director

Mick joined the award-winning Complicité in 1986, appearing in six of their shows, including The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol, The Visit and the Tony-nominated The Chairs. Other theatre credits include Special Offer at the Young Vic, Trouble in Paradise with the Talking Pictures Theatre Co. and The End of the Tunnel directed by clowning icon Philippe Gaulier.

Mick directed the first Peepolykus show Let The Donkey Go, and has directed work for Told by an Idiot, Hoipolloi and Dan Lees. His television credits include Bramwell, Peak Practice, Between the Lines, Pie in the Sky, Peter and the Wolf, The Bill, and Burning Ambition - a play written for the BBC by Theatre de Complicité.
