Session time 11am-5pm daily plus evening show (Venue TBC) This BRAND NEW workshop is for those who have completed both Intro to Clown and Clown as Performance or have a decent whack of clowning experience. Over the 4 days we will devise solo and group scenes or “numbers”, culminating in a 60 minute public performance on the final evening.
By the completion of this workshop you should have at least 1 or 2 numbers you can take out into the world and perform either at scratch nights or as part of an ensemble at a festival.
Following my time at École Philippe Gaulier I formed a clown troupe with five other graduates called A Plague of Idiots. We toured fringe festivals around the world and it was an incredible learning experience. This workshop will hopefully encourage you to do something similar!

INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Damien Warren-Smith (A.K.A. Garry Starr) is a performer whose solo work has played festivals all over the world, picking up numerous awards along the way. Having trained and worked as an actor for over 15 years he re-trained as a clown with the likes of Mick Barnfather, Peta Lily, John Wright, Lucy Hopkins, Carlo Jacucci and Philippe Gaulier before forming the clown troupe A Plague of Idiots. His solo shows have played to packed houses in Melbourne, London, Oslo, Berlin, LA and Las Vegas and he has taught workshops across the UK, Australia and Japan. He currently lives out of a suitcase and goes where the wind takes him.
