Clover Blue (Band) goes the whole hog at Lulie Tavern, with Felix Worner and Hot Glue. A Family Affair. FREE.
---------------------------------
Clover Blue is a First Nations artist, playing slightly harrowing alt-folk, grounded in abstracted poetics and supported by a motley crew of talented friends. They present introspective, and intense folk rock songs to spin life-based narratives through abstract lenses.
Creating heartfelt songs soaked in gritty guitar that voice reinvention & release, Hot Glue will double the size of your heart. The Melbourne indie-rock band is made up of siblings Lily & Pearl Harnath, with Henry Lucas on drums. Pulsing with punchy beats, high energy guitars and soaring melodic harmonies, their songs speak to the experiences of young adulthood.
Felix Worner is an alt-country singer-songwriter from Tāmaki Makaurau, now living in Naarm.
Drawing from a lineage of troubadours, Worner’s songs evoke a strange romantic sadness, underscored by his rich baritone voice and nostalgia-laden melodies that linger like a cheap perfume.
The result is a solemn, woodsy, but poignant sound - like reminiscing in mountain air; or playing a forgotten piano in an abandoned church. Think the tenderness of John Prine's John Prine, with the introspection of Springsteen's Nebraska, and a touch of the raggedness of Lucinda Williams' Car Wheels.
