Come join us at Fort Lauderdale Archers for one of our most fun events of the season! The clout shoot is a family fun event that can be enjoyed by both kids and parents with their archery gear. The archery clout shoot, competition practiced for centuries, is a long-distance event shooting at a circular target laid out on the ground about 120 yards to 180 yards from the shooter. The target was formerly a patch of cloth (clout).
An archer’s score is determined by how close each arrow lands to the clout. Arrows score higher points the closer they hit to the clout. There are scoring zones defined by maximum circles from the flag, painted on the floor. If your arrow hits the flag, you score the highest points.
Three dozen arrows are shot during a single clout round. It is shot in ends of six arrows.
(Regarding equipment, this event is mostly shot with a single string bow. Youth shooters using a Genesis bow will do well, but if using a compound bow, your arrows will fly too flat a trajectory and your arrows will bury in the ground.)
