Take part in a contemplative slow-looking and drawing workshop with MAD Collection artist Anne Wilson, creator of the sound and video installation Errant Behaviors and The MAD Drawing Room atelier. In The MAD Drawing Room, Museum visitors can explore how slow, close looking at textiles invites complexity, imagination, and invention.Wilson will begin the workshop with an introduction to her archive of lace and openwork textile fragments on view at the Drawing Room’s study tables. In an environment of contemplation and quiet, participants will then mindfully engage with the lace patterns and textures through close observation, drawing, tracing, and rubbing. Pencils, pens, paper, digital microscopes, and handheld magnifiers will be provided. At the end of the program, participants will be able to take home their own drawings or hang them for display in the MAD Drawing Room.
