Clos Mogador gained fame for putting Priorat on the global wine map. Founded by René Barbier in the late 1970s, it revived ancient winemaking traditions, blending old vines with modern techniques. Known for bold, elegant wines made from Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in "licorella" slate soils, its small-batch, natural approach has earned critical acclaim. More than just great wine, it reflects a family’s deep connection to nature and simple, beautiful moments.René Barbier Jr. is a Spanish winemaker leading the family-owned Clos Mogador in Priorat, Catalonia. The son of founders René Barbier III and Isabelle Meyer, he's carrying on their legacy of crafting exceptional wines.René joined his father in 1992, studying enology in Falset and gaining hands-on experience in France, Argentina, South Africa, and California. In 2002, he started making wines for Clos Figueras and teamed up with his father to create one of Priorat’s first white wines, Nelin.
