The People's Bookshop is delighted to present Clive Wright and Pauline Vallance in an evening of poetry and song entitled Poems and Songs of the North.Born in Northern Ireland, Clive is a prize winning poet who was most recently the Makar (poet) of Stirling, Scotland, and now lives in Durham. He will read from his latest collection, Thoughts in a Green Shade -- Poems of Ireland, as well as previous work from Scotland and poems written from his new home in County Durham.
Clive will be accompanied on stage by Pauline Vallance, a singer, songwriter and clarsach (Celtic harp) player from Ayrshire. Equally at home playing songs of Scotland and Ireland, she has presented one woman shows at the Edinburgh fringe for many years and her latest album, The World's A Gift, was described as a 'must listen' by Folk London and nominated for Scottish Album of the Year.
The event will be held in the People's Bookshop. The doors open at 6.30, the performance begins st 7 and the evening will end at 9. Tickets are just a fiver and include drinks and nibbles.
