This 45 minute clinical pilates is a class designed to work on your deeper core, foundation muscles to help you build strength, mobility and stability in your body. So, what is the difference between Clinical Pilates and regular Pilates? Simply, Clinical Pilates integrates Libby's physiotherapy background with the core benefits of Pilates. This means each session is informed by an understanding of pain, injury, and movement dysfunction, ensuring exercises are not only effective but also safe and appropriate for your individual needs. This class will focus on building a strong foundation of movement, which we believe is essential for staying active and preventing injuries. How does this differ to yoga? Well while pilates focuses on the physical body by holding precise, controlled movements targeting different muscle groups, (which we know in turn can help with emotional wellbeing), yoga focuses on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing utilizing asana (postures) sequences, pranayama (breathwork) and mediation / mindfulness. Ultimately, there are similarities but pilates has a less spiritual focus. So if you are simply wanting to focus on the physical element of your body, particularly if you have injuries, this could be a great option for you as you are able to utilize Libby's physiotherapy knowledge and background.
