About this Event
This Community Conversation hosted by Horsforth Climate Action will discuss the challenge of air quality in the local area and wider, and how local communities can respond.
The event will provide an opportunity to hear from Leeds-based experts on the issue of air pollution and is aimed at a public, non-expert audience.
Our keynote speakers will be:
- Dr Jim McQuaid from the University of Leeds, who will be introducing the drivers of air quality and discussing local trends in the context of global change. Jim's work includes the widely reported 'Air Quality Stripes': These colourful diagrams show how air quality has changed in over 100 countries around the world since 1850
- Andrew White from the Leeds City Council, who will be presenting on the city-wide effort to improve air quality and local successes. Andrew's team are responsible for the Leeds Air Quality Strategy.
Following the speakers, Horsforth Climate Action will host a short interactive workshop to discuss collaboration on community-led solutions to create a cleaner, healthier neighbourhood.
Hot drinks and light refreshments will be available. Feel free to bring any additional refreshments for yourself.
