About this Event
While sea level has risen 8 inches along Florida’s Coasts, newly passed legislation in Florida virtually erases climate change from most of its laws. Florida Government is now ignoring the reality of climate threats including projections of rising seas, extreme heat and flooding and increasingly severe storms. It also bans other efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and actually boosts the expansion of natural gas usage and suppresses information on the health effects of gas appliance usage. CS/CS/HB 1645, effective July 1, 2024.
State officials have even told publishers to remove some references to climate change from textbooks used in Florida's public schools.
Beverly Ward, PhD and the Quaker’s Field Secretary for EarthCare, will lead a public forum on Facing Climate Change in Florida, including what our State Government bans, and what we can do about it.
Free and open to the public. Seating is limited
