Get ready to learn how to effectively facilitate discussions and actions for climate change at our Climate Action Facilitation Training.Climate Action Facilitation Training
Date: Starting 4/11/24
Location: The Environment Centre
Join us for this exciting 6 week Climate Action Facilitation Training course!
Wherever we are, groups are made up of people with a diverse range of perspectives from different socioeconomic backgrounds, cultural viewpoints, and levels of expertise.
At a time when social media is polarising people, facilitation of diverse groups can seem daunting. However, it can also be very rewarding. Good facilitation can bring people together and support richer dialogue and insights to build the community resilience we need.
That doesn’t mean it is easy. Good facilitation is skilful but also learnable.
Over the 6 weeks you will learn how to,
· create safe spaces for participants;
· establish active listening so everyone feels heard and understood;
· encourage empathy through exercises that encourage participants to understand each other’s perspectives;
· introduce ground rules that promote respect, patience and the ability to disagree with each other without rudeness or conflict;
· shift discussions from disagreement to compromise, solutions and actionable steps;
· facilitate constructive dialogue, manage conflict and ensure all voices are heard.
The course is being facilitated by Dr Sue Lyle, who brings her wealth of experience in education and passion for the environment to this course.
There are a limited number of fully funded spaces available to those groups engaged with Big Climate Leap. Payment will be refunded if eligible.
