About this Event
Join us as we celebrate Drinking Water Week with free, guided tours of our Nottingham Water Treatment Plant. See first-hand everything that goes into making water from Lake Erie clean and safe to drink. From pumping lake water through a miles-long tunnel to filtering, disinfection, and testing, all while utilizing state-of-the-art technology to monitor everything. We’ll also have water-related experiments, demonstrations, and exhibits for the whole family.
To make sure everyone gets the most out of the experience, the number of tour spots available will be limited. Tours will be approximately 45 minutes long and run every 15 minutes, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. When you register, you'll have to pick an hour time slot. During that hour, you can join 1 of 4 opportunities for a tour, on the hour and 15, 30, and 45 minutes past the hour. Each tour is limited to 20 people.
For example, if you register for the 10 a.m. time slot, you can take a tour at 10, 10:15, 10:30, or 10:45, depending on when you and the others who registered for the same time slot arrive. This will ensure that wait time is minimal and all guests get a thorough tour.
You're welcome to arrive before or stay after your tour time to enjoy the other activities available from our team and partner organizations like Cleveland Metroparks, Great Lakes Science Center, and the Cleveland Cavs. We'll also have several food trucks on site.
Please keep in mind that Nottingham, like all of our water treatment plants, operates 24/7/365. Some areas may be very noisy during the tour and certain restrictions will be in place for the safety and security of visitors and employees. Tours involve considerable walking and standing. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know in advance and we'll be happy to make accommodations.
