Our audition process will allow dancers to meet the choreographers and audition for dances of their choice in a friendly group environment that will allow dancers to learn some basic choreography and display their own dance style and personality.
Nervous for auditions? We'll post break down videos of the actual audition combos the week of auditions to let you learn them ahead of time if you want!
Our showcase is set for April 12 at Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School. All dancers must be available for two shows that day (3pm & 7pm), as well as for dress rehearsal Friday evening (April 11) and a tech rehearsal Thurs or Fri April 10/11 evening.
REHEARSALS will be held at CDP studios, once a week for 90 minutes, starting Jan 30. Schedules will be pre-set before auditions so you know what you can commit to. Choreographer bios and tentative rehearsal schedule will be posted by August 10 on our website.
There is a $25 nonrefundable audition fee for all dancers. Space at auditions is limited - payment will save your spot. In addition to the audition fee, there is a $125 tuition per piece you are cast in, due by Jan 30. This tuition includes 10 weeks of rehearsal, $15 costume fees, 2 performances, and priceless friendships and new connections ;)
CDP has two scholarship programs - a need based talent scholarship and a minority scholarship. Application deadlines are Jan 25.
If you can't make auditions but still want to perform, register online but then e-mail us a video of you dancing, plus your $25 audition fee. Keep in mind, casting preference will be given to those who attend auditions but we will do our best to place you if we can!
Pre-registration & prepayment of your audition fee is REQUIRED by Saturday Jan 25 to save your space.
SCHEDULE:
Our auditions are broken down by level so that dancers are being appropriately challenged:
- Beginner is for people with little to no technical dance experience
- Intermediate is for dancers with basic jazz/ballet technique and/or experience with other dance styles (i.e. hip hop, ballroom, cultural dances, etc)
- Int/Adv is for dancers with solid jazz/ballet tech, comfortable with floorwork, able to improv, and dancers who trained for a long time and took a break and are coming back to it now.
- Advanced is for technical dancers with professional/pre-pro/post-professional jazz/ballet technique who are comfortable with improv
You will be eligible to audition for all pieces, no matter which group you attend. We encourage you to place yourself appropriately to allow yourself to really shine amongst dancers who are at your level!
We strongly encourage early attendance as we will start promptly at the audition time and there are forms that need to be filled out during the sign in period.
