ABOUT THE MUSIC:From soulful swing to blistering boombap grooves, Cedric Easton's Soulgood Band is an organ trio featuring vocal and trombonist, Lexi Hamner. Alongside original compositions, this band plays the songbook of world class masters Hank Marr, Billy Preston, and Twinkie Clark. This soul stirring blues based musical experience is intended to delight the hearts of the listener with the spirit of dance, triumph, and pure joy.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Cedric Easton is a New York based musician from Columbus, Ohio. A self-taught percussionist and composer, Easton engages blues-based music to help build community.
Easton’s dedication, and desire to cultivate a versatile approach to sound crafting influenced his exploration of various forms of music at an early age. Following his completion of Performing Arts High School, Easton began working steadily on the national scene with the Bobby Floyd Trio, Chad Eby, and international recording artist Christian Howes. Through live performances Easton was afforded the opportunity to play as a sideman for various national gospel and jazz artists including Jonathan Nelson, Dorinda Clark Cole, Deitrick Haddon, Tony Monaco, JD Allen, Richard Guiliano, and more.
As an independent artist Easton received honorable mention in Jazz Times (2012) and performed his first solo commission by Triple Croxx ENT for The Signature: A Poetic Medley (2014). As a producer Easton was commissioned by The Peggy R. McConnell Arts Center to compose a theme song and music video entitled, “Inspire Me” (2013) Easton co-produced the EP “Dreamin’ in Motion” (2014) and full-length album, “Journey”by T.wong (2015) As a musical director Easton was commissioned to co-write and direct the Maroon Arts Group multi-disciplinary performance, “Black Staccato” (2015 – 2016) Easton released an Emmy winning music video entitled, “Inspire Me” (2015), followed by a self-released music video, “Tears” (2018) Easton served as resident artist for New york City’s prestigious Museum of Modern Art (2020) and featured in a docu film entitled, “Legacy: Jon Irabagon A Tenor Odyssey” (2021)
Most recently, Easton executive produced and published the single, “The Lesson” (2023) and his first EP, “Letters From A Broken Brother” (2024)
