About this Event
London is a busy city. We all have so much to do day to day that it's easy to get out of sync with ourselves. Things can come our way that can cause chaos, latch on to us or make us feel stagnant but in this thing called life we have to keep flowing. In the "Cleanse and flow" workshop we will be using different techniques to get the energy flowing freely in our bodies. With good energy flow we will be better equipped to flow and adapt in the everyday no matter what comes our way. I have been practicing kung fu since 2020 just before lockdown began. It was one of the biggest things that aided in my healing during that difficult time and ever since. We will be focusing specifically on the powerful energy healing practice of qigong along with sound meditation to go back out into the world in better flow.
Many Caribbean migrants/children of Caribbean migrants took up Kung fu as a necessary means of self-defence and self-care in a racist and often dangerous Britain due to the growing rise in Neo-Nazi facism that reached it's peak in the 1970s.
"for the next few years I suffered many racist attacks, but I became streetwise. I learned boxing and kung fu so I could look after myself." - Benjamin Zephaniah, The Guardian 2016
