We’re excited to partner with Tangaroa Blue’s Reef Clean initiative for a beach cleanup on March 2nd, for Clean Up Australia Day! This event is not just about picking up litter; it’s about protecting our oceans, collecting important data, and taking real action for a healthier reef.
Why This Cleanup Matters 🌎
The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet, but marine debris poses a serious threat to its delicate balance. Plastics, discarded fishing gear, and other waste harm marine life, damage coral reefs, and pollute the environment.
That’s why we’re joining forces with Tangaroa Blue, an Australian non-profit organization dedicated to preventing and removing marine debris. Their Reef Clean initiative focuses on removing waste from key reef locations and tracking pollution sources through data collection. Every item collected during our cleanup will be recorded in the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Database, helping scientists and policymakers develop effective strategies to reduce waste at its source.
By taking part in this event, you’ll be directly helping to protect the reef, reduce pollution, and support critical research that shapes future conservation efforts. 🌊♻️
