Speaker Bios:
Cynthia Aziz: Cynthia A. Aziz is a North Carolina Board Certified Immigration Law Specialist. She founded Aziz Firm in 1990. Cynthia is currently serving as an AILA liaison to the Charlotte Immigration Court and serves on the NC State Bar’s Specialization Committee. Cynthia graduated from Mount Holyoke College and received J.D. from New England School of Law, Boston, MA.
Rob Heroy: Rob Heroy is a lawyer in Charlotte, North Carolina. He practices criminal defense and immigration law.
Becca O’Neill (moderator): Becca O’Neill is an immigration attorney and co-founder of Carolina Migrant Network. Her practice currently focuses on asylum for individuals in removal proceedings, immigration bond requests for individuals detained by DHS, and motions to reopen for individuals with prior orders of removal. Becca attended UNC-Wilmington as an undergraduate, and was a social worker prior to attending law school at the University of Louisville. She has practiced immigration law since 2009.
Helen Parsonage: Helen Parsonage is certified as a specialist in Immigration Law and in State/Federal Criminal Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Her practice focuses on complex deportation defense. She has litigated cases in the immigration courts (focusing on North Carolina and Georgia), before the Board of Immigration Appeals, as well as in the Middle District of Georgia and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits. She has lectured on immigration, as adjunct faculty and as guest speaker, at Wake Forest University School of Law, Elon University School of Law, North Carolina Central University School of Law, and at the University of Carolina Chapel Hill, School of Law.
