Hands-on clay sculpting workshop in New Orleans | Learn armature technique for larger sculptures | All supplies included
About this Event

This week: building bigger. Use tin foil as a structural base to create larger clay sculptures that actually stand up and can be displayed.

What is Clay Time? A weekly beginner-friendly clay sculpting workshop in Metairie where you work with your hands, meet people, and take home what you create. No pottery wheel, no experience needed—just clay, simple hand-building tools, and a relaxed environment.

What happens: You get air-dry clay, tin foil for building armatures, sculpting tools, and step-by-step guidance from an experienced instructor. Learn a professional technique used by sculptors to create larger pieces. Make something in two hours. Take it home the same night.

Whether you come alone, with a friend, or need to decompress after a long week—this is a creative hangout that gives you something to do with your hands.

Who this is for: Adults who want to work with their hands and get out of their heads. People who want to say "I made this" instead of "I bought this." No art experience required—total beginners welcome.

What you'll learn:

  • How to create a tin foil armature (structural core)
  • Building clay layers over the armature
  • Techniques for larger, standing sculptures
  • Making pieces that won't collapse or crack
  • Creating displayable art for your home

What you'll make: A sculpture or decorative piece that can stand upright—could be a figurine, vase, abstract form, or whatever you're inspired to create. This technique opens up possibilities for more ambitious projects.

What's included:

  • All clay and sculpting materials
  • Hand-building tools and supplies
  • Expert instruction and guidance
  • Take-home everything you create
  • Relaxed, judgment-free environment
  • Small group setting (max 10 people)
