About the class:
This family-friendly class brings clay and paint together in fun winter ornament designs hand-built by Aliyah of Sun Soul Bowls. Each registration will have the choice of a bisque-fired ornament designs that you will then paint and decorate as you choose. All supplies are included in this class. Parent supervision is required, and we ask that you dress for mess.
About the Artist: Aliyah McAllister
"SunSoul Bowls blossomed from a passion of Earth and art. My name is Aliyah and I am a potter currently based in Haw River, NC. Since 2016, I have been on a journey of learning this medium, and admiring its diversity. I was inspired by the grounding nature of clay and it quickly became my passion. My work consists of various forms of functional wheel thrown ceramic ware and occasionally sculptural hand built forms. I often combine two contrasting clay bodies to create marbled dishes. Bowls are my absolute favorite form to create. I have always preferred having all of my meals from a bowl and so I found myself focusing on these forms while throwing. I am also drawn to muted earth tones, with the exception of yellows and golds; I noticed my work starting to take on a similar color palette. I find wheel throwing to be a meditative experience that requires breath work and a steady mind. It seems as though working with clay simply aligns with my being so I plan to continue creating and sharing this beautiful medium with all."
