About this Event

We are back to IN-PERSON audiences! (Masks, vaccinations required.)

Emerging Artists from The Crossroads School Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Treger, perform Jean-Baptist Bréval's Duet No. 3 in D for violin and cello; Beethoven's Piano Sonata in A, Op 2, No 2; Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D (mvt 1); Kousevitzky's Concert for Double Bass (mvt 2); Frank Bridge's "Valse Russe" from his Miniatures; and Schubert's Trout Quintet (mvt. 1).

Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences is a K-12 coed college preparatory school in Santa Monica, California. Crossroads was founded upon five basic commitments: to academic excellence; to the arts; to the greater community; to the development of a student population of social, economic, and racial diversity; and to the development of each student’s physical well-being and full human potential. One in four students receives financial assistance. The School is highly acclaimed for its programs and is a leader in public/private educational partnerships.

The Elizabeth Mandell Music Institute (EMMI) evolved from Crossroads School’s unique Music Major Program, a part of the school since 1978. Musicians are accepted into this exceptional and unique program by audition. An EMMI Music Major is a dedicated student who is committed to the study and performance of classical music. As members of the larger school community, EMMI students benefit from the school's college preparatory program while also pursuing their passion for classical music.

Beginning in 1948 at Exposition Park, Sundays Live is now presented at St. James in-the-City as Classical Sundays at Six, part of our broader offerings of Great Music at Saint James. It is the oldest continuing chamber music series in Southern California, and we are honored to continue Bill Vestal’s leadership as Artistic Director in its new format at St. James.

Offered twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 6 PM (October through May), Classical Sundays at Six will feature chamber, orchestral, and solo artists from Southern California and around the globe streaming live and on-demand. Together with our International Laureates Organ Series and Evensongs on the 2nd Sundays, Great Music at Saint James continues to make St. James in-the-City an inspirational concert destination October through May.

We are grateful to the Colburn Foundation for their support of this series.
