ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Shalini Sasidharan
Shalini Sasidharan is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer,. She began her Bharatanatyam training under Smt. Sujata Rajendran in Kuwait, following the Kalakshetra bani during her school years. Since 2018, Shalini has been honing her craft under Divya Shiva Sundar, the niece of the renowned Dhananjayans, further deepening her understanding and skill in Bharatanatyam.
In 2017, Shalini started Pranati School of Dance to teach the art form of Bharatanatyam, mentors students, guiding them in the traditional aspects of Bharatanatyam while encouraging their individual creativity. Shalini nurtures her passion Bharatanatyam along with a full time tech job.
Shalini is also an active volunteer with CIPA and has been with the organization since its inception. Her involvement with CIPA reflects her commitment to fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts within diverse communities.
Srinidhi Srinivasan
Srinidhi Srinivasan has learned Bharatanatyam since the age of 5 and is currently learning under Guru Anwesha Das in Seattle. She has performed across various venues in and around Seattle, including temples, Seattle Youth Dance Festival, Seattle Asian Art Museum, Northwest Folklife and more. Srinidhi has recently joined Project Convergence, a dance company converging Bharatanatyam and American Tap art forms. In her free time, she enjoys attending Bharatanatyam workshops and fostering dogs through a local animal shelter.
Meera Sunder
Meera Sunder has been learning Bharatanatyam under the guidance of Guru Rukmini Vijayakumar since 2016, after her initial training under Guru Manoj Kumar during childhood. Over the years, through her Guru’s guidance, she presented her arangetram and performed in key productions like “The Dark Lord”, with the Raadhakalpa dance company. She moved to Seattle in 2022, where she has been sharing her passion for the art form with the vibrant community. Balancing her career as a software engineer, she finds learning Bharatanatyam to be a prime source of personal enrichment and a vital connection to her cultural roots.
Apoorva Natarajan
Apoorva Natarajan is a Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and teacher from Seattle that embodies a multi-disciplinary and creative approach to dance that is still embedded in tradition. She was inducted into dance by Padmashri Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant in Hyderabad and spent her formative years dancing in the Shankarananda Kalakshetra Ensemble in productions like Mohana…Krsna beckons and Panchatantra. As a soloist she has performed across India and the US, and her choreography has been featured and presented by Karthik Fine Arts, Brahma Gana Sabha, Parthasarathy Swamy Sabha, the Lincoln Center, and more. Her dance company, Project Convergence, has also performed at festivals across the country from Northwest Children’s Theatre to Erasing Borders, and has been lauded by The Hindu and New York Times.
