Introduction and post-show Q&A with film historian John Martello!September 30 will mark the 70th anniversary of the tragic death of James Dean in an automobile accident in California. He had just finished filming his third movie, GIANT, and this, his second film, was scheduled to open to the public on October 26. When it did open, the film and Dean himself as Jim Stark received great acclaim, and the adulation of James Dean went into full gear. Co-starring Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo also received great reviews (and Oscar nominations) for their performances as fellow high school classmates of Jim.
