About this Event
Visit the Gantt for a special screening of the film Boycott, starring the Emmy, Golden Globe, and Tony Award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright as Rev Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
BOYCOTT is a behind-the-scenes look at the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955. When Rosa Parks, an upstanding citizen of the community, refused to give up her seat to a white man, she was jailed, which launched the famous Montgomery bus boycott to protest bus segregation and the national introduction of a young preacher, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This movie follows how a one-day standoff event turned into a boycott that lasted well over a year and gave rise to some of the greatest leaders of the nonviolent civil rights movement.
