It’s easy to understand why Kumiko has been appreciated century after century. Its eye-pleasing patterns appear complex. However, the process is straight forward and easy to execute with minimal tools. Once the material is prepped and the loud power tools shut down, you can enjoy the peaceful, zen-like process of assembling the panel. By the end of class, each student will have assembled one Asa-No-Ha hemp leaf pattern. Each student will also leave for home with two jig blocks and enough material to assemble a second, larger panel. With these skills, Kumiko is a playful design element that will surely find its way into your future projects. We hope you will join us as we turn off the power tools, slow down a little, and step up our hand tool skills while learning the process of an ancient woodworking tradition.
