Ardnacrusha - The history and significance of the Shannon Hydro-Electric Scheme in the 20th CenturyAt the October instalment of Clare Museum's Lecture Series, Jaz Burns will discuss the history and significance of the Shannon Hydro-Electric Scheme to the social, political, and industrial development of Ireland in the 20th Century. Completed in 1929, the Ardnacrusha power station was one of the first major engineering projects of the Irish Free State and paved the way for significant changes to Irish life.
Jaz Burns is the Archives & Heritage Manager for the ESB, overseeing the acquisition and preservation of historically significant collections and artefacts related to the Shannon Scheme, rural electrification, and almost 100 years of ESB history.
