The confirmed date for WNBR London is 14th August 2021. WNBR World Naked Bike Ride London - Clapham Junction start.
Meet on Grant Road, just outside Clapham Junction railway station, in the pedestrian area next to The Church of the Nazarene. The nearest post code is SW11 2NU. Gather at 14:30 for 14:45 departure.
Clapham Junction is very convenient for the train connections, after all, it is the biggest junction and has the most trains passing through – over 2,000 on weekdays. Our start point is alongside the station (Platform 1 side) in a fairly small public square, so there is no time for socialising or body painting. Please behave responsibly as this is a residential neighbourhood. The overall route is 9 miles (14½ Km).
Participation is free but please donate! The ride is made possible by volunteer helpers and generous donations from our participants. No one is paid for running WNBR London, but we do have some significant expenses like radio comms hire, road closure fees, website, insurance, printing, marshals' ID, etc. It's got to be worth a fiver or more! The World Naked Bike Ride is a global protest movement with rides in cities around the world, raising awareness of issues such as safety of cyclists on the road, reducing oil dependence and saving the planet. Let's make the planet great again!
WNBR’s themes are to:
- protest against the global dependency on oil
- curb car culture
- obtain real rights for cyclists
- demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on city streets
- celebrate body freedom
As well as promoting healthy life choices it can also be the best fun you can ever have on two wheels. The London ride has the excitement of a carnival, with big crowds to cheer it on. It is a "naked bike ride" but you can be "as bare as you dare" - body painting and fancy dress are welcome. It is fun, legal and all in a worthy cause.
There are multiple start points for this year's ride, so please choose the one you like the most. The exact routes will be decided nearer to the date.
