BIO:
Australian/ British singer & writer of songs, author & editor of books, actor, librettist & poet, is based between Sussex, London and Paris. FREYjA has five albums (see Listen page). She is a classically trained pianist, poet and author. Her songs have been exploited in several films/tv series. “The Magician” is currently being licensed to appear in a major Australian documentary. All FREYjA’s songs are available on iTunes. (She is currently in dispute with Spotify as another FREYjA has linked themselves falsely to her profile)
She has toured worldwide to many festivals including Montreux Jazz Festival OFF, Switzerland, Woodford Folk Festival, Australia, CMJ New York, Vieste Jazz Festival and several times on Isola Tiberina’s Retrospective Film Festival, Rome Italy just to name a few. She regularly performs at Dean St Jazz Club, London, where she has a large following. She performed in 2019 at Kings Place as part of the Cosmic Shambles Christmas show. Highlight: she performed La Marseillaise solo at Stadium Australia on behalf of the French before 47,000 people at The Rugby World Cup.
As an actress FREYjA has walked the boards at The Sydney Opera House as part of The Sydney Theatre Company and she has had leading roles in Shakespeare Under the Stars. In television she has appeared on many mainstream Australian shows, namely Home and Away, Wildside, M**der Call and more.
FREYjA has been said to “mesmerise the audience with her sensual presence” and her blend of soulful, lyrical, folk and jazz songs. She is currently completing album six The Furnace Recordings at the piano with producer/drummer Paul Robinson (Nina Simone / Van Morrison drummer). On which her song Lady Amazon will appear. This song is currently runner up song being considered in two international song licensing competitions.
FREYjA is also known as author & freelance memoir author/editor Rebecca Rennie. Rebecca Co-authored “Nina Simone’s Travelling Circus” with Paul Robinson, a memoir about his 19 years playing and touring for Nina Simone.
She has also co-created children’s musical Paris Bear which is in the process of being considered for an animation. She runs several choirs in London and a summer singing camp in Europe.
