About this Event

CKD* Completely Knocked Down is produced and organised by Liliane Puthod to make the closing of Beep Beep, an off-site exhibition The Pumphouse, Dublin Port.

This evening event will unfold with two experimental performances by Ingrid Lyons and Metaxu. The original Pumphouse will be transformed through atmospheric soundscapes and visual installation drifting on Beep Beep’s motifs of transient journey, passage of time and mechanical dreams.

CKD* refers to the term used to describe factory-made cars being dismantled and sent overseas for reassembly.
Itinerary, itinerary…itinéraire is a soundscape comprising compositions and musings. By collaging aural footage (originally recorded on a twitch live stream), and musical interludes on zither and fiddle, this accompanying performance considers the artificer Daedalus in greek mythology and his labyrinth as an embodiment of the Hero’s Journey narrative trope. Through her fiddle playing, Ingrid Lyons uncovers the rich heritage of Irish creativity, poetry and oral storytelling, while remaining close to the exceptional fiddle players who have personally mentored her.

Metaxu presents with special guests Gweyn, Asa Nice Masa, Thom Dehli, a collaborative musical navigation, traversing conscious and subconscious territories through guitars, motors, voice, light and smoke.

Metaxu presents with special guests Gweyn, Asa Nice Masa, Thom Dehli, a collaborative musical navigation, traversing conscious and subconscious territories through guitars, motors, voice, light and smoke. Metaxu seeks to bring audiences and artists in Dublin together, through experimental music, into unfamiliar and lesser frequented performance spaces and settings, specific for their materiality encompassing acoustic qualities as well as social possibilities.
Ingrid Lyons lives and works in Dublin and writes about contemporary art and culture. Lyons frequently contributes publications including the Visual Artists’ News Sheet, Mirror Lamp Press and Irish Arts Review. Lyons wishes to develop and distil a writing practice that includes fictional literature and immersive research practices such as collecting oral narratives and musical collaboration to complement more traditional academic research methodologies.

Liliane Puthod's practice often takes the form of large-scale installations and sculptures using both handmade and industrial materials as a way to confront archaeological and commodified times. She appropriates and manipulates some of society’s existing modes of dissemination, display and production to subtly destabilize what she considers the fabrication of desire and subjectivity in relation to objecthood. Investigating the temporality of everyday life’s consumption, her work questions its perceived value within our globalised world.

Beep Beep is part of Longest Way Round, Shortest Way Home, two off-site solo exhibitions by Yuri Pattison and Liliane Puthod at The Pumphouse, Dublin Port. The exhibitions are produced and curated by Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, in partnership with Dublin Port Company.

This public event is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland Project Award.
