Students of jazz who can read music and who range in age from young to more seasoned are welcome at the Sunday Jazz Jam Session.A ticket (which is free) is required to play at the CJS Sunday Jazz Jam. More info and tickets at https://billchapinjazz.com/jam.
Bill starts each session with a coached tune and quickly helps everyone learn the melody and a few basics about improvising over the tune. After that participants select the jazz standards for the day. Mostly, we play!
What to Bring: Participants need to bring their horns and their spirit of adventure, an essential ingredient for growing creatively through improvisation. Fake books, drums, bass, piano, keyboards, and amps are all provided.
