Join Teesside poet Bob Beagrie for dramatic performance of his poetry collection: Civil Insolencies (Smokestack, 2019), featuring an immersive soundscape of spoken word, live and recorded music and sound effects. Performed alongside Sara Dennis, Peter Lagan, Kev Howard and Stewart Forth the performance brings to life the grim realities of The British Civil Wars, capturing the millenarian fervour and social turmoil of a world turn'd upside down. The piece offers an uncanny reflection of our own divided times.
Reviews
"A work of remarkable power, demonstrating how great poetry can reach beyond the poet to capture what really matters and should always be remembered." - Keith Hutson
"If you thought there was nothing new to add to the overcrowded catalogue of war poetry, you need to see this. Bob Beagrie skews the lens on the battlefield to give us a close-up view of the foot-soldier's experience that is mesmerising as it is harrowing for the neve ends." - Neil Young
