About this Event

The Florida Puerto Rican Parade, Inc., in partnership with Mi Familia en Acción and Libre Initiative, cordially invites you to the Civic Engagement and Responsibilities Panel Discussion on Wednesday, April 24th at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at Sea World.

The panel will be composed of a non-partisan group of influential and respectable Puerto Rican and Hispanic community leaders from Central Florida in government and nonprofit sectors that will discuss the local and nationwide impact the Puerto Rican/Hispanic community could generate in this year's general elections if they massively exercise their right to vote in November.

Panelists will share the importance of the involvement of Puerto Rican and Hispanic residents on boards and volunteer programs of local government to increase our participation and serve as a strong voice in the decision-making process of Central Florida municipalities.

This educational conversation will help us raise awareness for our Puerto Rican and Hispanic communities about the power, influence and respect we can collectively generate in government agencies as we engage Nuestra Gente in local governments and organizations.

Panelists:

  • Liza García-Vélez, Esq., Executive Director, Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce
  • Soraya Márquez, Florida State Director, Mi Familia En Acción
  • Iván Jaime Jr., Grassroots and Engagement Director, Libre Initiative
  • Jackie Colón, Southeast Director of Civic Engagement, NALEO Educational Fund
  • José La Luz, President, Hispanic Campaigns Associates
